ROBERT BYRD


Robert Byrd has been delighting children of all ages with his whimsical, fantasy-filled children's books for over 30 years. As author and illustrator he has the rare talent to see his fanciful visions through to the minutest detail. Whether enlightening audiences to the many talents of Leonardo DaVinci or taking us into a wonderous world filled with foxes and bears in military attire, Bob, (as he's more affectionately known), is sure to spin us a tale we'll not soon forget. Bob was the 2003 winner of the prestigious Golden Kite Award for excellence in children's books for Leonardo — Beautiful Dreamer.

Robert Byrd was born in Atlantic City and studied at the Philadelphia Museum College of Art. He has illustrated sixteen books for children and has had his children's book art exhibited at the Philadelphia Art Alliance; The World Children's Book Fair in Bologna, The Society of Illustrators, New York; The Art institute of Philadelphia; The University of the Arts, Philadelphia; and Cricket, 25 Years of Stories and Art for Kids, the Art Institute of Chicago. He teaches Children's Book Illustration at The University of the Arts, and Moore College of Art and Design in Philadelphia

AMALIA HOFFMAN


Amalia is a paper sculpture artist, illustrator and writer and a graduate of Pratt Institute and NYU. She has created window displays for Tiffany & Co. in New York and many other prominent store windows.

TIM JACOBUS


Over the years Tim has illustrated hundreds of book covers for many different publishers. In 1991 Tim was hired to paint a few covers for a new children's book series for Scholastic Publishing. Initially the contract called for only four books in the series. These children's thriller stories were called "Goosebumps". The enormous success of R.L. Stines's "Goosebumps" has become the largest selling series in publishing history with over 200 million copies sold. Tim's distinctive covers and characters are recognized by school children around the world.

E.B. LEWIS


E.B. has illustrated 40 children's picture books. Lewis' work is now part of major private collections and is displayed in galleries throughout the United States. Honoring Lewis, Barbara Bader's History on American Picture books will be including a description of Earl and his achievements as an artist (click here to view letter). Currently, Earl Lewis is teaching illustration at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia and is a member of The Society of Illustrators in New York City.

DAVE ROSS


Dave Ross is an accomplished author and illustrator, his published work includes over thirty children's books. Two of Dave's books, Space Monster and Mr.Terwilligar's Secret, were on the International Association of Reading and Children's Book Council 1982 Children's Choice List.

His most popular work, A Book of Hugs, sold over half a million copies and was featured several times on the Captain Kangaroo television show. He is currently working with Harper Collins Publishers on a multi-book project.

LENA SHIFFMAN




Lena's first book was Keeping a Christmas Secret written by Phyllis Reynolds Naylor. It received a Christopher award in 1989. Since then Lena has illustrated My First Book of Words, and numerous Hello Readers for Scholastic Inc., including the book Dancing with Manatees, that has sold over half a million copies. Her latest books are When I lived with Bats and Playing with Dolphins, both written by Faith McNulty.






KATHY TEMEAN


Author of a new children's activity book titled, "HorsePlay". Kathy is the Regional Advisor of the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators in New Jersey. She has written and illustrated forSprouts Magazine, for Highlights for Children Magazine, Boys’ Quest Magazine, Fun for Kidz Magazine, Guidepost for Kids, Hullabaloo Magazine, Mademoiselle Magazine, Kraft Foods, United Airlines, Knight Ridder and The Philadelphia Inquirer. Her “Two Boys with Bear” print won placement in the NYC Art Showcase last year and "Homework Helper" won 2nd Place in the Gloucester County College Art Exhibit being held now. When Kathy is not busy in her art studio or writing children’s books, she is busy working with adults and children teaching Art, Photoshop, and Web Design.
